Amazon Prime Day has officially arrived, bringing with it an abundance of deals spanning all price points and categories. And while many of the steepest discounts in the world of tech are reserved for premium noise-canceling headphones and TVs, there are still plenty of budget-friendly gadgets and gizmos on sale for those looking to pick up cheap(er) basics, fitness bands, or one of several AAA games for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X / S, or PlayStation 5.

The bulk of the sub-$50 highlights below are currently exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers, though, in some instances, retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart are matching Amazon’s pricing. That means, regardless of where you choose to shop, there are still ways to save on an assortment of Verge-approved goodies.

The best earbud and speaker deals under $50

Sony’s adorable SRS-XB100 speaker offers USB-C charging, a built-in strap, and great sound for the price, rendering it a terrific travel speaker or home office companion. Read our review.

The compact Bluetooth speaker offers up to five hours of battery life, a built-in loop, and IP67 waterproofing, which makes it a great picnic companion so long as you don’t need something with booming sound.

The best entertainment deals under $50

Amazon’s latest streaming stick is faster than its predecessor with Wi-Fi 6E and double the storage. It also now displays widgets and artwork when idle while continuing to offer a terrific selection of streaming apps and Alexa integration.

Roku’s Streaming Stick 4K is down to $29 ($21 off) at Amazon, nearly matching its second-best price to date. Roku’s go-to streaming device is one of the more straightforward options you can get, with a big, easily accessible grid, great search functionality, and all the streaming apps you might want. Amazon is offering a three-month trial of Audible Premium Plus for free through July 31st, allowing you to save $44.85 over the course of the trial period. The versatile subscription grants you one credit per month — which you can use to add any book you want to your Audible library — along with a rotating list of thousands of other titles.
Prime members can currently get a five-month subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited for free, which equates to a savings of $50. Non-Prime members are also eligible for the deal, but they’ll only get three months for free. The $9.99 monthly subscription grants you ad-free access to millions of podcast episodes and over 100 million songs.

The best gaming deals under $50

The InZone H3 is the wired (3.5mm / USB-A) model in Sony’s latest lineup of gaming headsets, which are compatible with both PlayStation and PC. You can customize the sound profile of InZone headsets with the InZone companion app and Sony’s Spatial Sound Personalizer.

The Super Mario RPG remake is currently matching its all-time low of $39.75 (about $20 off) at Amazon. The newer Nintendo Switch game is pretty straightforward as far as remakes go, with the same heartfelt story and Final Fantasy-style turn-based battles that made the original for the SNES so beloved. The Nintendo Switch version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is on sale at Amazon for $24.99 ($12 off). That’s the second-best price we’ve seen on the retro-inspired beat ‘em up, which takes the tried-and-true formula established by the ‘90s-era TMNT arcade games and modernizes them with six-player co-op and modern pixel art.

While Ragnarök’s third-person action gameplay feels similar to its predecessor, its story is far more ambitious. As Kratos wishes to bury his past, he’s trying to convince his young son, Atreus, not to follow a tempting path at discovering his godhood and defying prophecy. Read our review.

Razer’s wired Wolverine V2 has fallen to $49.99 ($50 off) at Amazon, which nearly matches the best price we’ve seen on the excellent Xbox / PC gamepad. The pro-grade controller sports a few more enthusiast features than the standard Xbox Wireless Controler, including “mecha-tactile” switches under the D-pad and face buttons, trigger stops, and a couple of macro buttons for further customization. If you’re not a fan of using your gamepad as a controller, the Long Edition of 8Bitdo’s Media Remote is available at Amazon for an all-time low of $14.99 ($10 off). The handy Xbox Series X / S accessory features backlit buttons, a dedicated number pad, and plenty of shortcuts for navigation; however, your Xbox must be positioned within the line of sight to use the infrared accessory. The semicircular speaker is similar to the latest Pop in that it supports Alexa and can control various Matter devices in your home, only it also features a 2.83-inch, 240 x 320-pixel touchscreen with customizable clock faces and animations.
Amazon’s latest Echo Show 5 is available at Amazon for $49.99 ($40 off), which is just $10 shy of the all-time low we saw during Black Friday. The third-gen smart display is similar to its second-gen model but sports an updated mic array, improved processing power, and a (slightly) more powerful speaker system that allows for clearer audio quality and better bass.

The 1080p Blink Mini 2 adds weather resistance to the affordable security camera, so you can use it both indoors and out while continuing to offer a ball-and-socket mount for easy mounting to a wall. Ring Indoor Cam (second-gen) is matching its all-time low of $29.99 ($30 off) at Amazon right now. Ring’s wired, motion-activated camera features a built-in siren, two-way audio, night vision, and 1080p HD recording. The second-gen version also includes a redesigned mount that lets you easily adjust the camera’s view, not to mention a manual privacy cover that disables all audio and video recording.

Amazon’s apt-titled Smart Plug doesn’t require a hub and lets you add Alexa functionality to any outlet, allowing you to control a range of devices with just your voice.

A handy add-on that can transform a variety of garage door models into smart devices that will work with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings.

The best charging accessory deals under $50

Anker’s magnetic power bank touts wireless Qi charging, a folding kickstand, and a convenient USB-C port for wired charging.

Anker’s 30W 511 Charger can top off a phone rather quickly but remains small enough to fit in a small bag or purse.

The sleek Baseus Airpow Power Bank, one of the picks featured in our 2024 Mother’s Day gift guide, is currently on sale at Amazon for $15.99. The 20-watt, 10,000mAh portable charger, which includes both USB-A and USB-C ports for juicing smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices at moderate speeds.

Miscellaneous deals under $50

If all you want is a cheap way to dig into Amazon content, the latest Amazon Fire HD 8 is down to $64.99 at Amazon in 32GB, ad-supported configuration. The eight-inch slate offers solid performance for under 50 bucks, with USB-C charging, hands-free Alexa functionality, and up to 13 hours of battery life. Its HD display isn’t as nice as that of the Fire HD 10, though, for the price, it’s hard to complain.
