Perplexity has told investors it hopes to raise about $500 million in the new funding round, the Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter. The terms could change and the funding might not come together, the paper said.
SoftBank Group Corp.’s Vision Fund 2 invested in Perplexity earlier this year at a $3 billion valuation. The company has launched an array of revenue-sharing partnerships with major publishers, even as it has faced accusations of plagiarism from some news outlets.
