Trump’s gun license to be revoked following conviction, media reports say

Donald Trump’s license to carry a gun is expected to be revoked by the New York City police department now that he has been convicted of a felony, according to reports on Wednesday evening.

Trump once boasted that he was so popular with the electorate that he could shoot someone in the middle of New York’s Fifth Avenue and he wouldn’t lose support.

The former US president’s permit to carry a concealed weapon was suspended in April 2023 after he was indicted on charges of falsifying documents to cover up a payment to the adult film star Stormy Daniels, according to CNN.

Now, the NYPD is preparing to revoke Trump’s license altogether, CNN first reported, followed by NBC, with the latter citing an NYPD spokesperson.

As a candidate in the 2016 presidential election that he ultimately won, Trump said voters essentially would not walk away from him if he shot someone in his home town, on Manhattan’s most famous avenue of upscale shopping, famous museums and his office and apartment complex Trump Tower.

In January of 2016, in Iowa during the primary and caucuses campaign, he said: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”
